We hope you will have us back in the future, please pass on our thanks to all concerned.”

“Prior to joining South Staffs Golf Club, I had been a member of another golf club for over 20 years: even so joining a new club can be daunting. It was so reassuring to know that South Staffs had introduced a mentoring scheme and that as a new member I would be allocated an existing member who would offer ongoing support and guidance.
Your mentor is there to answer any questions you have and also allay any concerns. In addition your mentor will ensure you get to play with other members and are fully integrated into the ladies section. I have found joining South Staffordshire Golf Club a really positive experience, there is a lovely, relaxed atmosphere and I have been made to feel very welcome.”
“Just a note to say how good it was to see the new Newsletter, as a new Member (since April) and still finding my way around the club entering competitions, HDID…etc I found the Newsletter a great way of being aware of what’s happening with the club. Can I also pass on the thanks to all those who have made themselves known to me so that my initial introduction was a pleasant experience. Everyone seems so friendly and welcoming.”

“Coming from a sporting background, golf had been a game I had aspired to play once work and other sporting commitments permitted. A couple of years ago, I found myself to be in this position and joined a local club but found myself to be the only lady there. I was becoming increasingly frustrated with lack of improvement and knew I needed to join a club with a larger ladies playing section.
I am sure there are many and varied reasons for joining a golf club. Personally, I wanted to improve my game, learn more about the game, make new friends and develop a hobby I could continue well into the future.
Having looked at various clubs in the Wolverhampton area, South Staffs G C seemed to tick most boxes for me: - large established ladies playing section, pleasant course with large practice area, excellent pricing, quality golf professionals and proximity to my home.
Being totally honest I had some reservations, having heard rumours of South Staffs being somewhat elitist, however, following a very pleasant meeting with the then Lady Captain and Lady President I thought these rumours may be just that; rumours, and took the plunge and joined.
On joining I was assigned an experienced lady member to be my mentor. Jackie proved a delight, played my first round with me, explained the processes for getting playing partners, how to enter competitions etc and was always available to answer any questions I had. This mentoring system is an excellent way of assisting new members to become familiar with the workings of the club and resulted in me feeling included from day one.
From the day I joined I have been made to feel extremely welcome. I have always been able to find playing partners and I have only praise for the encouragement and advice I have been given. Handicaps vary from 2 -46+, but I can honestly say whatever handicap player I have played with I have enjoyed the round; encouraging others or being helped myself.
The tradition of sitting with ones playing partners in the delightful club house, overlooking the course after a round means one never feels alone or an outsider. There are some excellent social events, but one can become involved as much or as little as one wants with these.
Recently a programme of ladies only lessons has been offered by the pros; Peter and Matt. These have been of excellent quality and value for money, utilising the large practice ground.
Looking back over my first year I know my golf has improved, my knowledge of the game certainly has, I have made some wonderful new friends and I genuinely feel a part of this great golf club.
Looking forward into my second opportunities abound; golfing and social, with the support, advice and facilitates on offer here. I hope to become more involved with club competitions and matches.
I am truly glad I decided to join South Staffs GC, which has a superb parkland course, and a genuine, welcoming group of ladies who love their golf and I know only want to help others to do the same.
If you are considering joining a golf club, I would say look no further than South Staffs. Whatever your golfing ability there is something here for you and you will not regret it.”
